The cheapest flight to Las Vegas in our 29 October 2026 check was $295 round trip from Los Angeles on American, with one stop. A United nonstop cost $4 more at $299. Chicago started at $362 and New York at $516.

We priced one week, 13 to 20 December 2026, from three cities. New York had by far the most choice, with 808 itineraries, against 188 from Chicago and 139 from Los Angeles. It was also the most expensive by a long way.
Read across each row: the gap between the cheapest fare and the cheapest nonstop is the number that matters.
| Flying from | Lowest round trip | Lowest nonstop in our check |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles (LAX) | $295 on American, 1 stop | $299 on United |
| Chicago (CHI) | $362 on Frontier, 1 stop | $366 on Frontier |
| New York (NYC) | $516 on United, 1 stop | None among the 10 lowest fares |
Travel 13 to 20 December 2026, all into Harry Reid International (LAS). Round trip, economy, one adult, taxes included. Fares change daily, so check the live search above for your own dates.
Yes, from both cities where it was on offer. From Los Angeles the United nonstop took 78 to 82 minutes, while the $295 one-stop trips ran from 3 hours 36 minutes to more than 6 hours. That's a short hop turned into most of a day for four dollars.
Chicago told the same story. The Frontier nonstop at $366 took 4 hours 15 minutes; the $362 connections took between 9 hours 37 minutes and 18 hours 25 minutes, and one Sun Country itinerary at the same price took 24 hours 41 minutes. We'd book the nonstop without a second look.
All ten of the lowest fares were United, every one with a stop, priced at $516 or $518 and taking 7 hours 50 minutes to 8 hours 43 minutes. Nonstops between New York and Las Vegas do run, but none made the cheapest ten on our dates, so expect to pay more for one.
With 808 itineraries on offer, it pays to sort by journey time rather than price once you're within a few dollars of the bottom.
Less than you might think. Frontier, which had the lowest fares from Chicago, includes one free personal item that fits under the seat. A full-size carry-on or a checked bag costs extra, and the price rises the later you add it.
If you're packing for a long weekend, add the bag cost to the $362 or $366 fare before you compare it with an airline that includes a carry-on.
Harry Reid International (LAS), the city's main airport, which used to be called McCarran. It sits just south of the Strip, so the ride to most hotels is short.
The airport has two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and airlines are split between them. Check which one your airline uses before you head back for your return flight.
We don't have enough of our own checks yet to name the cheapest week of the year, and we'd rather say so than guess. These numbers cover one mid-December week.
Las Vegas runs on Pacific time, 3 hours behind New York and 2 behind Chicago. Fares change daily, so compare a few sets of dates in the search above before you book.

Los Angeles. Our 29 October 2026 search found $295 round trip on American with one stop, and a United nonstop at $299. Chicago's lowest fare was $362 on Frontier and New York's was $516 on United, for the same December week. Distance explains much of the gap between the three cities.
Yes. Our 29 October 2026 check found United nonstops from Los Angeles at $299 round trip, taking 78 to 82 minutes. That was only $4 more than the cheapest fare, which had a stop and took at least 3 hours 36 minutes. On a trip this short, the nonstop is the obvious choice.
Yes. Our 29 October 2026 check found a Frontier nonstop at $366 round trip, taking 4 hours 15 minutes. The cheapest fare was $362, but every option at that price had a stop and took at least 9 hours 37 minutes. Remember that Frontier charges extra for a carry-on and checked bags.
Mostly distance. New York to Las Vegas is the longest of the three trips we checked, and our 29 October 2026 search found $516 as the lowest round trip, all on United with one stop. None of the ten lowest fares were nonstops, so a nonstop cost more again on those dates.
Harry Reid International (LAS), formerly McCarran International. It sits just south of the Strip and has two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Airlines are split between them, so check which terminal your airline uses before you travel, especially for the flight home.
